We have been advised by a Special Task Team from the SAPS, that they have successfully arrested six gang members related to specific crimes that have recently happened in and around the Lonehill area.

This fantastic success was the result of good and speedy co-operation between all the parties involved, enabling the systems to work as designed and needed.

It all started with some rapid reporting of a robbery and vehicle theft (a blue BMW) in Lonehill.  The LRA Fidelity reaction team was on the scene within two minutes, followed within seconds by a SAPS undercover unit and a few minutes after that by the Special Task Team members.  Details of the event were immediately posted on the new SAPS communications network.

A few hours later, a SAPS task team in Hammanskraal intercepted the BMW and arrested three individuals.  Information given by these individuals led the task team back to Alexandria in Johannesburg, where a further three individuals were arrested.  Information subsequently obtained from these guys was that they had been using a white Nissan bakkie to drive around the area under various pretexts of doing maintenance and collecting money for churches.  They would then rob the premises and move on to the next location.

Apparently many items of value were recovered from the Alexandria location.  The SAPS are now hard at work determining possible linkages to many other similar or related events.

Well done to all involved.  It certainly is a very welcome success story.
